Itinerary

Day 1. Mineralnye Vody - Kislovodsk
Arrival in Mineralnye Vody by train or by plane. Meeting with our representative at the railway station or at the airport. Transfer to the chosen hotel. Accommodation. Lunch.

After a couple of hours you will meet the guide and get around Kislovodsk city park. It has the second largest park territory in Europe (950 hectares) and over 250 species of trees. We will start by going up the cable way. From above you will see a splendid view of Elbrus. We will take our time to fully enjoy the beauty of these places. You will be offered three types of Kislovodsk Narzan water in the Main Narzan Gallery, and we will finish our tour at the Main Narzan Baths. Return to the hotel, free time. Dinner in one of numerous restaurants of Kurortny (Resort) boulevard or in the hotel (to pay on spot). If you wish, you can visit recreation center or spa in the hotel. (L)

Day 2. Medovye waterfalls
Breakfast. Today we offer you to take a long sleep and only before lunch we will go to Alikanovsk Gorge, where you will admire mountain landscape and take a look at “real Caucasus” in small scale.
Breakfast. Today we offer you to take a long sleep and only before lunch we will go to Alikanovsk Gorge, where you will admire mountain landscape and take a look at “real Caucasus” in small scale. The guide will take you to the Medovye (The Honey) waterfalls.  Along the way you can stop at natural monument – Koltso (The Ring) Mountain. Nevertheless the main object to visit is Medovye waterfalls, where from the viewpoint you can enjoy the mountain landscape and 5 waterfalls of different height, alpine meadows and rocks covered with net of narrow gorges. Along with that our guide will take you to another natural monument – Rim (Rome) Mountain and will tell you about ancient Alan settlement (6th-14th century) that once stood at its foot. After the trip to Medovye falls you will have time to rest and enjoy the view, taste national cuisine. Local chefs will treat you to the best hychin and kebab (lunch is for additional payment). After lunch you can visit local museum “Karachai yard” and small village house with a cattle. In the end of this program you will see a performance of dancers and musicians and even will have a chance to learn some moves (at extra charge). On your way back you will visit a Tea House, taste herbal tea and homemade jam, which are of great variety here.  Before returning to the hotel you will visit the Castle of Love and Betrayal to hear about the beautiful Caucasus legend that gave the name to this place. Day 3. Yessentuki - Zheleznovodsk - Pyatigorsk
Breakfast. Today you will go around cities of Caucasus Mineral Waters. You will learn about mineral springs of the region.

The guide will take you to Yessentuki where in the  city park you will see mineral water galleries and the building of mud baths built in ancient-roman style and of course you will taste legendary mineral water (Yessentuki-4, Yessentuki-17). Next stop is Zheleznovodsk. You will take a walk along the streets surrounded by 19th century buildings. Fabulous masterpieces such as former summer house of Emir of Bukharia, Pushkin Gallery, Ostrovsky Baths built in Turkish style, Cascade staircase decorate the city park. During our tour you will taste mineral water from a unique hot spring “Slavyanovsky”. Lunch. Then you will visit the oldest city of Caucasus Mineral Waters, Pyatigorsk (1780).  You will stroll down the magnificent park Tsvetnik, enjoy the view from Aeolus’s Harp Pavilion and see the famous cave Lake Proval. Pyatigorsk saw many historical events and famous people like Leo Tolstoy, Alexander Pushkin, but the most important without doubt is Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov, who lived here, wrote about this region and died on the duel not far from Mashuk Mountain (1841). Breakfast. After breakfast you will embark on a tour to the Southern Prielbrusie enjoying the spectacular views en-route. Snowy humps of Mount Elbrus fascinate and attract with its inaccessibility.

Elbrus, dormant volcano, is the highest point of Russia and Europe. During the tour the guide will tell you interesting facts about the conquest of Mount Elbrus, local people, customs, traditions, resources in the land of the Central Caucasus, cable way will take you up to an altitude of 3500m, and you will be able to enjoy the marvelous views of the mountains and meeting with majestic Elbrus.  Lunch. You will have a chance to visit a local souvenir market and get something to remember this wonderful journey. We will also stop at Narzan meadow and taste 3 different kinds of Narzan water. Breakfast. Free day. Today you can use rich possibilities for recreation that offers resort region. You can sign up for massage, visit spa or recreation center.

Take independent trip to city park and visit summerhouse of Schalyapin, ethnological museum “Fortress” (open air tour) or museum of the famous painter Yaroshenko. City park is beautiful all-year-round, it has the purest air, rich with natural ions and phytocides of plants, which by all means are good for one’s health. Kurortnyi boulevard is a perfect spot to end your walk. For those who love active sport we will gladly arrange helicopter tour or paragliding. You can also go to a one-day trip by jeep or quad bike. We can also arrange trout fishing or a horseback trip. Another great possibility is to go to Suvorovsk thermal baths with specially equipped pools, locker rooms and shower. After the bath you can have a cup of herbal tea with jam or honey and go to the massage cabinet. (B)

Day 6. Arkhyz settlement and observatory
Breakfast. After the breakfast you go to the observatory of Russian Academy of Science. This astrophysical observatory is the major astronomical center of in Russia.

Along the way you will see the beautiful Main Caucasus Range and mighty Elbrus. By midday you will be at Arkhyz Observatory, that is located on the Pastukhov mountain at the height of 2100 meters. After an exciting tour you will have lunch in a local restaurant, where you can taste traditional cuisine of Caucasus. After the lunch time you will go to Lower-Arkhyz settlement (916 a.d.) This architectural monument is one of the first temple complexes in Russia and is located on the bank of the Greater Zhelenchuk river. In 10th-13th centuries this region was the capital for ancient Alan Empire. Return to the hotel. Free time. Farewell dinner in the restaurant on Kurortny boulevard with all group. (BLD)
