Overview

Khabarovsk is the industrial, cultural and administrative center of the Russian Far East. It was founded in 1858 as a military outpost at new Russian-Chinese border and named in honor of Yerofei Khabarov, Russian explorer of Siberia and Far East. Khabarovsk is also a large “river-sea” port: city stretches for 45 km along the bank of the Amur River, the main waterway of the Russian Far East.
