The tour starts with a short ride to Old Town of ancient city Kiev. En route we’ll see University founded in 1833, Taras Schevchenko Opera & Ballet Theater, the historic main gateway into the ancient city Golden Gate, newly renovated Michael’s Cathedral & St. Sophia Cathedral (outside), the city’s oldest standing church, that was built in 1017-31 in honor of Prince Yaroslav’s victory over a rival tribe. We’ll visit charming Andrew’s Descent. Stroll down to Low Town of Podol with en route photo stop at St. Andrew’s Church (1746-61) designed by the great Italian architect Bartolommeo Francesco Rastrelli, an inspired Baroque interpretation of the traditional five-domed cross-shaped church.
