Overview

Take a trip to the most west part of Russia – Kaliningrad region. During 5-day tour offered you will visit the capital of the former East Prussia – city of Konigsberg (in 1946 renamed to Kaliningrad), very interesting and original corner of Europe - Curonian Spit, one of the first Baltic sea resorts – Rauschen (in 1946 renamed to Svetlogorsk) and the largest in the World center of amber extraction - Palmnicken settlement (in 1946 renamed to Yantarny).

Itinerary

Day 1. Welcome to Kaliningrad
Arrival in Kaliningrad. Transfer without guide to the hotel. Accommodation since 14:00.
Day 2. Kaliningrad city sightseeing tour
Breakfast. 6-hour Kaliningrad city sightseeing tour. You will be acquainted with impressive defenses built in the middle of 19th c. and interesting samples of the Modern architecture (early 20th c.). You will visit the only in Russia Amber Museum located at former Der Dona Tower. You will see name card of Konigsberg – City Cathedral. Konigsberg in April 1945. Free time for lunch is included. (B)
Breakfast. 6-hour Kaliningrad city sightseeing tour. You will be acquainted with impressive defenses built in the middle of 19th c. (Kronprinz Barracks, Grolman Bastion, Oberteich Bastion, Der Dona Tower, King’s Gate, Sackheim Gate) and interesting samples of the Modern architecture (early 20th c.) kept at the Amalienau suburban quarter. You will visit the only in Russia Amber Museum located at former Der Dona Tower and devoted to housing and displaying amber artworks. You will see name card of Konigsberg – City Cathedral. Grave of the great German scientist, father of German idealism philosophy Immanuel Kant whose life and scientific work is inextricably linked with the local University is located just near the Cathedral wall. You will visit Fort #5 (Friedrich Wilhelm III) Museum devoted to battle for Konigsberg in April 1945. Free time for lunch is included.  (B)

Day 3. Curonian Spit tour
Breakfast. 5-hour Curonian Spit tour. You will see phenomenon of the Drunken Forest noted for its unusually twisted trees. You can observe all variety of local landscapes from the panoramic platform at the Efa Summit. You will visit Bird Observatory and Curonian Spit Museum devoted to the nature of the Spit and mode of life of its locals. Free time for lunch is included. Chance to purchase smoked fish from the lagoon. (B)
Breakfast. 5-hour Curonian Spit tour. Curonian Spit created by the sea and the wind is narrow sandy strip of land separating salt sea and fresh-water Curonian Lagoon. This unique and picturesque place is included to the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is state natural national park now. You will see phenomenon of the Drunken Forest noted for its unusually twisted trees. You can observe all variety of local landscapes (sea, lagoon, pine forests, sandy desert) from the panoramic platform at the Efa Summit. You will visit Bird Observatory founded in 1901 by German ornithologist Johannes Thienemann and Curonian Spit Museum devoted to the nature of the Spit and mode of life of its locals. Free time for lunch is included. Chance to purchase smoked fish from the lagoon. (B)

Breakfast. 8-hour Baltic Sea shore tour. You will visit Palmnicken settlement where 90% of world reserves of amber are concentrated. You have a chance to observe amber sand-pit panorama, to visit an unique Amber Pyramid to take part in amber extraction at mini sand-pit personally and to receive certificate of amber-digger. Free time for lunch. (B)

It became very popular resort after visit of Prussian king Friedrich-Wilhelm IV in 1840 there. Rauschen was visited by great scientist, one of the founders of the modern science of linguistics Wilhelm von Humboldt, great writer Thomas Mann and other well-known cultural figures.  (B)
